Description
A plate compactor (also called a vibratory plate or wacker plate) is a hand-guided construction machine used to compress and densify ground materials such as soil, gravel, sand, and asphalt. It consists of a heavy, flat steel plate on the bottom connected to an engine or motor that drives vibration. As the machine runs, the plate vibrates rapidly and moves forward, applying force into the surface beneath it, which pushes particles closer together and removes air voids.
